Welsh Gymnastics Floor and Vault Championships - December


It was Silver Medals day for Kestrel boys who took part in the Welsh Gymnastics Floor and Vault Championships held at Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.  9 yr old Joseph Dunster competing in the National section had a good score of 11.5 on Vault, and in the Under 10’s Club section Joel Kohler-Hoon, Rhys Jones and Tom Hook took team Silver.  In the Under 16’s section Sam Dallimore was placed second taking the Silver Medal, with Cameron Maggs finishing in fourth place.

Kestrel Gymnastics hold a friendly competition for 5-7 year age group

Kestrel Gymnastics Club hosted a competition for 5, 6 and 7 year olds which was attended by gymnasts from Cwmcarn and Torfaen.   The girls performed routines on Vault, Beam, Bars and Floor, and also a Conditioning Set routine on Floor to show strength and flexibility.  It was the 5 year olds first competition on all apparatus, the team comprised of Lilian Sapsford placed 5th Overall, Eva Lawn placed 6th and Amelie Thomason who together took Team Silver.  In the 6 years category, Olive Dunster won the Silver Medal with Edith Ferrer and Sophie French coming joint fourth, Sophia Cattan in 6th place, also competing was Lexi Powell, and the girls won Team Silver.  The 7 year olds kept the pace up with Harriet Hathaway taking the Silver Medal followed by Isabelle Jones taking Bronze, and with team mates Erin Roberts and Carys Choules they also won Team Silver.  The girls did their very best in front of a large audience, and are now looking forward to performing in the Christmas Show on 5th,6th,7th December at Kestrel to see the year out.

AIFG Tumble and Vault Competition

The AIFG Tumble and Vault Competition hosted by Kestrel Gymnastics Club was well supported with gymnasts from Cwmcarn taking part, and very good experience for gymnasts competing for the first time with top six gymnasts presented. In the 5yrs age group Lilian Sapsford won the Silver medal, Lowri Christie in fourth place followed by Eva Lawn in 5th place, the three little girls took Team Gold. The U8’s section was won by Isabelle Jones, Harriet Hathaway won Bronze, and together with team mates Erin Roberts who was placed fourth, and Francesca Owen, took Team Gold. Lexi Powell in sixth place, together with Sophie French and Olive Dunster, took Team Silver. Amber Powell competing in the U10’s won Silver, and also Silver Team Medal with team mates Lilly Edwards and Martha Linden. The U12’s section was won by Cora Chilholm followed by Lily Bunsford-Jones in Silver position.

In the Boys’ section Alex Hill-Wilson won Gold, Aedan McDaid won Silver, Henry Jones-Dekerf taking Bronze, and the three boys took Team Gold. U10’s section Gold medal winner was Dovydas Zargorskis, Oliver Sapsford taking Silver, James Davies in Bronze position, and Daniel Walters fourth, the boys also took Team Gold. A very good end to the competitions before the summer break.
